Just changed a fuel pump and now have to go to work. All my customers will go home high on fumes at this rate. Tried detergent and diluted bleach but I still smell like a petrol station.

I use that orange citrus stuff with the little beads in it. made by Gojo. works WONDERS for gas, grease, oils, etc etc etc

fast orange or something similar is the best stuff I find.

If I’m out of that white vinegar and sea salt works too. scrub it real good.

Toothpaste will take the stink of gasoline off of your hands.

I was thinking about how I took apart my carburetor last night and immediately fell asleep on the couch. I didn’t even wash my hands when I came in from the garage. I smell great and my nails are clean!

Time to order some nitrile gloves for next time.

Try rubbing your hands with coffee grounds, sounds weird but coffee is great against odours. your hand might smell like coffee afterwards though.

The toothpaste someone suggested actually worked so the smell is pretty much gone now. Even if coffee worked id be reluctant to waste something my life depends on. I probably have more coffee than blood in my system right now.

Except if you are actually eating the coffee, you should have used grounds you can use :)
But good for you if you found a working solution. I’m gonna get me some coffee right now...

Swarfega also do a citrus variant. Not sure if it’s better than the old fashioned stuff.

stainless steel “soap”. sold in the US at places like Bed Bath & beyond. intended to get onion and other strong cooking smells of your hands. Works well with gas and oil. buy a second one for the garage. if the wife catches you stealing hers out of the kitchen...

I’ve found gasoline to be very good at getting things off of my hands, not sure how feasible it is for you’re application. WD-40 also cleans hands pretty well.

Get a stripper (exotic dancer) to rub all over your hands. A lot of guys splash a little gas on them to get stripper smell off, maybe it works the other way as well.

there’s this stuff called Hogwash , kills the stink of anything it comes in contact with. Bio-safe, excellent for skunked dogs. Just used it to get stinkbug off my hands a few weeks ago. It’s good in stink riddled cars too, but it has to touch the affected area to work.

It’s pretty good for a smelly car for you detail guys, but you have to get to all effected areas which can be tough. But even if you get to most it still helps.

No idea. It just keeps coming out. I just use everything as an excuse to wash my hands and eventually it goes away.

All I know is the dish soap and sugar trick for getting rid of oil and grease, but I haven’t found it works with gas.

Potatoes.

Grab a few of Idaho’s finest (or Ireland’s finest depending on what side of the world you’re on) and just kind of molest them for a while. Really fondle that spud your grimy gas hands. The skin of the potato will pull the benzene from your hands and leave them smelling like tonight’s dinner. Just don’t use the cleansing potatoes in said dinner.

I doubt this will actually work. I just made this up.

POSSIBLY...... but gross, not petrol smelling, hands. ketchup also helps to strengthen cuticles.
